The Mobile Application Development certificate program provides graduates with skills needed to obtain positions such as entry-level professionals in the application development and gaming fields or as independent contractors.  The program’s course structure covers the fundamentals of software development on desktops and mobile devices and features development for the iOS and Android platforms.  Along with programming techniques, students will grow their skills of application development using industry standard tools. This gives graduates the opportunity to work as game developers or in business related software development projects.  Core learning objectives in software development will include courses covering the Objective C, iPhone Developers Kit, and Java. Graduates from the program will complete several professional applications for iPhone and Android platforms.  In addition to attendance in all courses, students will be required to complete out-of-class assignments. These assignments include but are not limited to reading, exercises and problem solving, projects, research, papers, online forum participation, hands-on tutorials, videos and presentations. A student can anticipate out-of-class activities that equal about two (2) hours for every one (1) hour of lecture.  Upon successful completion of the program (see graduation requirements section of the catalog), students could seek or obtain entry-level employment in a mobile application related field.
